Loanee Rob Burch: Could be on the bench tomorrow
Rob Burch and Ryan Harley will be in City's squad against Colchester United at Ashton Gate tomorrow.
Goalkeeper Burch, signed on a month's loan from Tottenham Hotspur this week, could be on the bench, even though Brian Tinnion rarely names a substitute keeper.
And Harley is also likely to be a sub for the first time this season, having spent much of the latter part of the last campaign battling with an ankle injury.
The young midfielder is rated highly by Brian and will be encouraged by his return to the squad.
Brian told Bristol City World: "Ryan is back in contention and may be involved against Colchester at some point.
"I also think it would be good for Rob to be on the bench so he feels part of things because we want him to put pressure on Steve Phillips.
"Steve certainly hasn't let us down in any way this season, but no player should feel totally assured of his place and it will do him good to have competition."
Brian will warn his team not to read too much into Colchester's poor start to the season. The visitors have taken only five points from their first six games and lie 22nd in the Coca-Cola League One table.
The manager said: "They haven't had the best of starts, but they have some big lads and can be pretty physical. If we think it will be easy we'll be in for a shock."
